About the organisation
The Roots Foundation Wales is a creative, innovative and dynamic charitable organisation based in Swansea. We support young people in care, care leavers in transition to independent living as well as carers – including kinship carers.
We were born out of a passion and need to support young people, many who are vulnerable, in a critical time in their lives. Roots aims to empower our young people to progress positively into adulthood. Roots support carers and care leavers with their emotional, physical and mental well-being, offering positive experiences and opportunities for personal growth.
We offer a range of after school clubs and activities ranging from boys group, to cooking, sewing and crafts, younger youth and movie night. We provide a happy, friendly, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere where young people and their carers can come and share food and relax. We also have three self-contained units on site for young people aged 16-18 who are transitioning to independent living.
A message from our Youth Panel for prospective candidates
"Roots is our home from home, it’s a place where we can share our personal experiences and always be supported. Building good relationships with the staff and other young people is very important to us. It’s important to have staff who are respectful, caring and trustworthy while being able to have fun and enjoy a bit of banter! We need someone who is honest, responsible and appreciative of the fact that Roots is like our family."
