Lead Year End accountant
Cameron Kennedy is currently seeking an interim Year end Accountant to join a local authority in East Anglia. The role is to cover maternity and will be for a minimum of 6 months.
The Role
Primary responsibilities including:
- Year End Production: You will be responsible for overseeing the year-end production of the Statement of Accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Team Management: Managing a team of four direct reports, providing support, guidance, and oversight to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
- Treasury Function: Overseeing various aspects of the treasury function to optimise financial performance and mitigate risks.
- Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing changes where necessary to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Business as Usual Tasks: Undertaking all other business-as-usual tasks typically handled by a permanent member of staff.
Skills and Experience required
- Statement of Accounts (Year end) Experience: Demonstrable experience in supporting or producing the Statement of Accounts, preferably within a council or similar public sector environment.
- Auditor Liaison: Experience in dealing with auditors and addressing queries to ensure a smooth audit process.
- Treasury Function Knowledge: Familiarity with treasury functions and financial instruments to support strategic decision-making. – Desirable
- Collection Fund Understanding: Working knowledge and understanding of collection fund processes would be advantageous. – Desirable
Additional Notes:
This is a hands-on role that requires proactive involvement in the production of the Statement of Accounts, although support and guidance will be available as needed.
