Year 4 Teaching Assistant – Special Educational Needs, SEMH Support

Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Year 4 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in our Year 4 class. This is a long-term, full-time position starting in January. The successful candidate must have a Level 2 childcare qualification and a strong background in working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 4 student with SEMH needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher to implement individualised learning plans.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track the student’s progress, reporting findings to relevant staff and parents.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals to ensure the child’s holistic development.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 2 childcare qualification.
  • Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly SEMH.
  • Understanding of SEMH strategies and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of the student.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS or be willing to undertake a new one.

Working Hours:

  • Full time, long-term role beginning in January.
