This is a full-time temporary role for the next 2 months, with the possibility of extension.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the role?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wigan Council are looking for four Assistant Cemetery Operatives, to cover 9 cemeteries across the borough of Wigan. Assisting other members of staff, to complete all tasks required at the cemetery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are your responsibilities?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To be accountable for the preparation, presentation, and backfilling of graves in line with policy and procedures by using appropriate plant and equipment\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Take pride in all you do to present all cemeteries grounds to a high standard including grass cutting, hedge cutting, weed killing, planting, bin emptying, litter\/leaf collection, floral tribute management and site security\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Empowered to carry out maintenance to achieve expected presentation in all cemetery grounds including lift and level procedures to maintain a level ground\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Accountable for compliance with all relevant legislation and with local rules and regulations\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Cemeteries Team Leader in planning new memorialisation, locating graves by using plans and electronic information and to manage floral tributes\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Carry out burials, burial\/scattering of cremated remains and exhumations with dignity and sensitivity to families dealing with bereavement\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Be courageous in the enforcement of memorial rules and regulations and be open to new ways of working\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Remove\/re-fix grave kerbstones, headstones and concrete foundations as required and in line with approved procedures\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Undertake site inspection including headstones management, record results and report defects or any health &amp; safety issues\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Be available to cover for other colleagues in the service including crematorium and office duties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What skills do you Need?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ideally to have Assistant Cemetery Operative experience.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent People skills, as you will be speaking to the public, other members of staff and senior managers.<\/li>\n<li>Must be physically fit and health, as there will be lots of lifting and working outside.<\/li>\n<li>Must be an excellent team worker.<\/li>\n<li>You will be working across 9 different cemeteries within the borough, so would be beneficial to have a full uk driving licence and access to a vehicle to get to all locations easily.<\/li>\n<li>Some Admin experience may also be required for the role<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Next Steps: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To receive a full job description please apply below or email your CV to <\/p>\n<p><b>Application Deadline:<\/b> 25\/04\/2024<br \/>\n<b>Contract Type:<\/b> Temporary<br \/>\n<b>Submitted Applications:<\/b> 0<\/p>\n<p><a class='btn btn-block btn-primary theme-btn-primary' style='text-align: center; text-decoration: none; margin: auto 0;width: 100%;' href='https:\/\/www.reed.co.uk\/jobs\/assistant-cemetery-operatives\/52374651' target='_blank' rel=\"noopener\"> Apply Now <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Employer: Reed Salary: \u00a312.18 per hour, inc benefits Date Added: 25\/03\/2024 We have a fantastic opportunity for four Assistant Cemetery Operatives at Wigan Council.
