\nThe Company Charter Tech is a privately owned company that has been trading for over 30 years. As a systems integrator and engineering services company, we work predominantly in the petrochemical industries, focussing on providing burner management and other safety solutions that satisfy the critical nature of our customer’s plant and processes. Overview of the role <\/p>\n
Primarily you will work amongst our small team of engineers, contract support staff and our admin team, in a friendly office environment located in Wimborne Minster, Dorset. Although office based, there will be occasional requirement to attend meetings and provide pre\/post commissioning support for systems at our customer’s sites. Site visits would normally be within the UK but on rare occasions may require worldwide travel.<\/p>\n
The role will manage PLC based system design and consultancy projects (circa £10Kto £100K in size) from point of sale, through initial design and manufacture, to site commissioning. Being customer facing, great communication skills from a technical and commercial perspective, are essential.<\/p>\n
You will be responsible for a wide range of engineering design and project management tasks, with importance placed heavily on reading and interpreting technical documents to include industry standards, client specifications, P&IDs, logic diagrams. You must be a confident user of general office software (e.g. Microsoft Word \/ Excel) for preparing various in-depth project related documentation. (e.g. Specifications \/ reports \/ calculations etc.).<\/p>\n
In line with our design management systems, you will critically review, and mark-up documents \/ drawings generated by others, providing constructive feedback. Supervision of workshop technicians is required during the system build of your own projects.<\/p>\n
Our systems are rigorously tested prior to shipment, so an ability to apply problem solving and analytical techniques, to plan and carry out appropriate system tests is needed.<\/p>\n

Essential<\/p>\n
* HNC\/ HND \/ Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience in PLC control system design and engineering
* Clean UK Driving License
* PLC configuration and application software development (e.g. ABB AC500 \/ 800xA HI, DeltaV SIS, Triconex, HIMA F60\/HiQuad X,Siemens S7-F, Allen Bradley GuardLogix)
* HMI \/ SCADA configuration
* Industrial communications – Architecture design and selection of protocols (Modbus, OPC etc.)
* Analytical and problem-solving abilities
* System commissioning – Working under site rules and regulations, Minor panel \/ wiring modifications<\/p>\n
Desirable<\/p>\n
* Industrial Instrumentation experience
* Understanding of Burner Management, Emergency Shutdown, Fire & Gas Detection and other Process Control Systems
* Good working knowledge of the Functional Safety Standards BS EN 61508 \/61511
* Certified FS Engineer\/Professional status welcomed<\/p>\n
