{"id":2327,"date":"2023-12-15T11:00:09","date_gmt":"2023-12-15T11:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coinsrev.com\/info\/senior-research-economist\/"},"modified":"2023-12-15T11:00:09","modified_gmt":"2023-12-15T11:00:09","slug":"senior-research-economist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coinsrev.com\/info\/senior-research-economist\/","title":{"rendered":"Senior Research Economist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Employer:<\/b> Institute of Fiscal Studies<br \/>\n<b>Salary:<\/b> \u00a350,000 &#8211; \u00a370,000 per annum<br \/>\n<b>Date Added:<\/b> 15\/12\/2023<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Join the UK&#8217;s leading independent economics research institute<\/li>\n<li>Exciting opportunity to join the IFS as a Senior Research Economist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About Our Client<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) is the UK&#8217;s leading independent economics research institute.<\/p>\n<p>Their job is to analyse and inform economic and social policy decisions and to help policymakers &#8211; and those who hold them accountable &#8211; understand the impact that their choices will have on individuals, households and businesses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Senior Research Economist<\/p>\n<p>London<\/p>\n<p>Role:<\/p>\n<p>The IFS is looking to recruit one or more outstanding senior research economists to join their team.<\/p>\n<p>The role will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undertaking high-quality and rigorous research on issues important to UK public policy publishable in high-ranking academic journals in a timely and efficient manner<\/li>\n<li>Effectively presenting and disseminating research to academic and non-academic audiences<\/li>\n<li>Developing rigorous and policy-relevant research ideas and taking the lead in writing research funding applications<\/li>\n<li>Mentoring and development of more junior researchers, typically including formal line management responsibilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Successful Applicant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Senior Research Economist<\/p>\n<p>London<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hold at least one top-class degree (undergraduate, masters or PhD) in economics (post-graduate economics qualification preferred)<\/li>\n<li>At least four years of relevant experience, including extensive experience of working with data to answer research questions and developing ideas and\/or shaping the analysis<\/li>\n<li>Proven track record of managing projects and pushing them forward to completion<\/li>\n<li>First-rate written and oral communication skills<\/li>\n<li>A commitment to political independence and to shaping public policy through evidence-based comment<\/li>\n<li>Expertise in the policy context and\/or existing academic research in one of the areas listed below:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; Tax Policy &#8211; a thorough understanding of tax policy and economics<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Education and Human Capital &#8211; knowledge of the factors that shape education and skills at different ages, and their relationship with other outcomes like health and crime<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Labour Markets and Welfare Benefits &#8211; understanding of how the UK labour market, welfare system, and interventions within these domains work to shape outcomes for individuals and families<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Justice &#8211; understanding of access to justice, pathways through the justice system and wider effects on well-being for those experiencing the justice system.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will have significant latitude to shape future research priorities within their team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s on Offer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Senior Research Economist<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Permanent Opportunity<\/li>\n<li>Hybrid working: 3-4 days per week in the office<\/li>\n<li>Salary: &#163;68,500<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Deadline: Midday on 3rd January 2024<\/p>\n<p>Not for profit and charities<\/p>\n<p>Where specific UK qualifications are required we will take into account overseas equivalents.
