Senior Tax Accountant <\/p>\n
Location: Walton Oaks \u2013 Surrey (Hybrid working- 2-3days in the office)<\/p>\n
Duration: 12 months<\/p>\n
Pay rate: PAYE: £33.79 – £41.58 per hour\/ UMBRELLA: £37 – £46.59 per hour <\/p>\n
\u2022 This position will have tax reporting & compliance responsibility for a group of European markets and will report to the Senior Tax Manager. <\/p>\n
\u2022 The primary focus of the work is US GAAP Tax Reporting, local country tax compliance and reporting, and managing the data requirements for local country tax audits. <\/p>\n
\u2022 The individual filling this position will be expected to develop detailed knowledge of the tax regimes within his or her scope of responsibility. <\/p>\n
\u2022 The Senior Tax Accountant will also be the primary contact for the GFS Global Financial Services colleagues who also have responsibilities for these entities. <\/p>\n
\u2022 This position will work closely with and manage third-party providers where needed in the tax return process. <\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Responsible for timely and accurate delivery of tax reporting processes including compliance and especially US GAAP Reporting<\/p>\n
\u2022 Develop knowledge of major drivers impacting the tax and corporate position of their European Markets.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Accountable for maintaining SOX controls for all processes relating to their markets.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Make tax payments.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Deliver Tax Returns following a standardized methodology, involving significant automation and assembly of final returns using tax return software where possible. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Work with local advisors to sign off of tax returns based on materiality and risk<\/p>\n
\u2022 Manage the data requirements for local country tax audit process, both directly and through the co-ordination of other contributors such as finance in-market colleagues, third-party providers and Shared Services.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Work with European Tax Planners to exercise tax technical skills in making judgments on the tax treatment or tactical approach to be adopted in relation to issues arising in European markets.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Actively participate in mergers, acquisition and reorganization projects <\/p>\n
\u2022 Responsibilities for the transition of market responsibilities from the business to the European Tax Centre.<\/p>\n
Required Experience:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Strong Financial Tax Accounting experience preferably US GAAP and IFRS. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Experience in Tax Reporting, especially Year End Consolidation gained in a large accounting firm or commercial environment. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Experience of managing tax compliance and reporting processes in more than one country. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Experience in researching and analyzing European tax issues.<\/p>\n
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Knowledge of US GAAP accounting<\/p>\n
\u2022 Knowledge of the principles of direct taxation and their interaction with reporting processes <\/p>\n
\u2022 Ability to explain technical accounting issues to key stakeholders, both orally and in writing<\/p>\n
\u2022 Strong analytical and problem solving skills<\/p>\n
\u2022 Strong commercial and business awareness<\/p>\n
\u2022 Proficient in Excel<\/p>\n
\u2022 Practical experience in Financial Systems<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
Education and Background:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Qualified accountant or tax advisor (ACA, ACCA, AITI, CIMA)<\/p>\n
\u2022 Minimum of 4 years\u2019 post qualification experience in industry or a Big 4 accounting firm<\/p>\n
\u2022 A recognized tax or accounting qualification<\/p>\n
