We are a very well established and successful company who are one of Europe’s leading designers and manufactures within the engineering sector. We employ over 250 staff in the UK and are seeking a Welding Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for all welding compliance documentation and ensure the department maintains the expected level of qualifications to codes and standards as well as appropriate to materials and individuals. The role would suit candidates with proven welding experience with Stainless Steel and itβs alloys who have progressed their career to include additional operational and administrative duties relating to the documentation, compliance and official standards within welding. We can offer a salary ranging up to £44k depending on your experience plus annual bonus profit share scheme. You will be working Monday-Thursday 8.30am-5pm and Friday 8.30am β 2.30pm. The role will include the following tasks:-
- Review and apply official standards and requirements specified by professional bodies
- Assume ownership of the welding document system, including Welder Qualifications and Weld Procedure Qualifications to include:
Organisation and management of documentation and system
Review and amendment (if required) of existing documents
Compliance to codes and standards
Creation of new documents and welding procedures
- Responsibility for the full process of qualifying welders to appropriate procedures and maintaining qualification.
- Maintain Welder Qualification Prolongation
- Review engineering designs for welding requirements
- Create / review Weld Maps
- Select appropriate Weld Procedures for production
- Positively influence the availability, suitability, maintenance, and calibration of welding equipment as well as the storage and handling of materials and welding consumables
- Positively influence the Procedures for, and control of sub-contractors
- Maintain NDT records
- Identify & maintain up to date, relevant welding standards
- Welding Inspection where necessary and appropriate
- Principal point of contact for technical welding queries and those from Welders and their Team Leader.
To be successful as our Welding Engineer you must have experience welding in an engineering or manufacturing environment working specifically with Stainless Steel and its alloys. It is essential you hold a welding qualification and an HNC in Engineering or have completed an equivalent apprenticeship working in an engineering environment, you must also be computer literate and have experience of working within a quality system and an understanding of the documentation required.
Experience or qualified in NDE methods including PT, VT, RT, UT, would be an advantage as would experience of basic mechanical and design principles and pressure vessel experience and pressure vessel code experience, however these are not essential.
