Job Description:

I am currently working with an Ofsted rated “good” primary school in the beautiful Worcester area. The school are seeking a highly experienced Teaching Assistant to join their EYFS team to support a young pupil on a one-to-one basis who has complex medical needs.

The young person has a diagnosis of Epilepsy and needs support all day at school, as he experiences absence seizures multiple times a day. The ideal candidate must have previously worked with Epilepsy and have a very high level of understanding of the medical diagnosis and how to look after the young person when experiences Absence seizures.

My client is looking for a dedicated, confident, and resilient teaching assistant to join their team in December 2023, ideally the candidate will have prior experience working with children or adults with Epilepsy and supporting them within an educational setting, whether that be nursery/ primary schools or SEN provision.  

The ideal teaching assistant will feel confident to communicate with other professionals to seek advise and support for the young person and use the pupils EHCP to cater for their medical and educational needs during school hours.

You must have experience supporting those with Epilepsy to be considered for the position.

JOB ROLE:

The Teaching Assistant will:

  • Support pupil 1.1 within the classroom and around school
  • Follow PEP and EHCP targets to support learning opportunities
  • Use a variety of resources to make school fun and interesting
  • Support pupil in small groups for intervention work and building social skills
  • Communicate with teacher throughout the day

DUTIES:

The Teaching Assistant will:

  • To work alongside outside agencies to provide support required for the young person.
  • To participate in meetings and annual reviews to provide evidence and contribute to future targets and decisions made for the young person
  • Have the ability to work with parents in order for them to participate within their children’s learning and achievement within particular areas of the curriculum
  • Carry out observations and keep a record of the pupils progress and development based on the Early Years Framework

Candidate Requirements:

  • Level 3 Early Years / Childcare – candidates lacking the required qualification will not be considered
  • Previously supported persons with Epilepsy – candidates lacking this experience will not be considered
  • DBS on the update service or issued in the last 12 months.
  • SEN experience/ knowledge/ additional CPD
  • Safeguarding trained (we offer free CPD)
  • Prevent trained (we offer free CPD)

Job Title: Experienced 1-1 Teaching Assistant

Qualifications Required: Level 3 / Experience is essential / Qualification is desirable

Location: Warndon, Worcester, West Midlands

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 3:30

Start Date: December 2023
