Job Title: Specialist Works Manager

Position Overview: As the Specialist Works Manager for my client your primary responsibility is to lead the development and expansion of the Specialist Works department. This role entails overseeing minor projects and maintenance contracts, with a focus on projects valued up to £100,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management and Maintenance:

    • Develop and enhance the Specialist Works department.
    • Identify, secure, and successfully deliver minor works projects with values up to £100,000.
    • Provide oversight for post-contract services after project handover.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans.
  2. Business Development and Client Relations:

    • Acquire new business opportunities and cultivate relationships with existing clients.
    • Communicate with past and current clients to identify opportunities for electrical maintenance and small works.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing department to formulate strategies and targeted marketing plans.

  1. Team and Process Leadership:

• Lead and oversee a dedicated team comprising electricians, electrical, and administrative staff.

• Formulate and execute processes and software systems in collaboration with the commercial team.

• Develop management resource plans and implement changes as necessary.

Supplier and Subcontractor Collaboration:

• Cultivate relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

• Supervise subcontractors to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.

• Collaborate with subcontractors for maintenance, quotes, orders, and health and safety audits.

• Evaluate subcontractor performance and manage all documentation and invoicing processes.

Commercial and Financial Management:

• Report to and be answerable to the Directors.

• Uphold knowledge in commercial, technical, legal, and insurance aspects.

• Ensure compliance with clients’ budget requirements and mitigate financial risks.

• Generate quotes/business cases for additional works.

Risk Management and Innovation:

• Identify business risks early in projects and handle them proactively.

• Establish and maintain risk registers and contingency plans.

• Embrace innovation as a crucial management capability for the sustainability of the department.

Operational Excellence:

• Coordinate workflow for all client and internal requests based on service level agreements (SLAs).

• Interact with customers and teams for planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and service visits.

Post-Contract Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with relevant contract managers for project completion.

• Reach out to clients for post-contract packages and promptly address any arising issues.

Commercial Objectives:

• Initiate contact with existing and past clients to offer a spectrum of electrical services. • Respond to client calls for work and strategize the maintenance team’s schedule.

General Responsibilities:

• Cultivate effective relationships with all stakeholders.

• Uphold high standards in all operational and commercial activities.

The initial salary will be £35,000.00 – £60,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

The package includes:

• Company Vehicle or car allowance to be agreed

• BUPA health insurance via the JIB scheme • 23 days annual leave plus Bank holidays
