The Opportunity

Being accountable to the Head of Service – Early Help, this role will lead the strategic and operational locality Early Help offer, including the operation of Family Hub delivery points.

As a confident and ambitious individual, you will provide professional leadership, ensuring effective practices in situations of complexity, risk uncertainty and challenge.

You will, ensure a high standard of consistent care and service in accordance with legislation, guidance and policies and ensure that children and families are at the heart of service delivery and design and that the welfare of children and young people is safeguarded and promoted at all times, helping to improve our Children First programme.

You will liaise with partners to formulate jointly agreed plans to ensure a co-ordinated approach to services for children.

What you will be doing

  • To formulate and develop policies, processes and guidance, considering views of stakeholders. Applying complex theories and detailed technical knowledge to devise approaches.
  • Providing leadership, expertise to service delivery or specific reviews, projects, and programmes on service/directorate provision.
  • Provision of expert advice and guidance on complex issues verbally and/or through written reports and providing professional advice/support across the department and organisation.
  • Develop effective relationships with managers or partners across the wider directorate, other parts of the organisation and external organisations, advising and influencing key stakeholders.
  • Direct responsibility for a budget and/or advisory impact on projects relating to the role’s specialism, whilst developing the shape of future service provision and budgets.

About you

  • You will have the ability to deliver change and continually improve practice and preferencing in a supportive, positive way.
  • You will have a Post Graduate professional qualification in a relevant field, or the equivalent level of significant experience.
  • You will be a confident and ambitious person, providing professional leadership.
  • You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to influence the actions of others, be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade the actions of others, negotiating solutions across wide areas of the business.
  • You will have strong partnership working skills with the ability to develop and build and manage highly effective relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders to successfully deliver objectives.
  • You will have experience of managing a budget and contributing to financially related decisions on high level spending.
