Senior VAT Accountant/ Qualified Finance Role (ACA/ CIMA/ ACCA)/ Lead Position – Team Management/ Hybrid Working
Are you a Qualified VAT Specialist looking for a new opportunity to advance your career? My globally operating and industry leading client requires a Senior VAT Accountant to lead their small VAT team. This position will be responsible for ensuring that at all EMEA VAT liabilities are accurately filed and that the VAT angle of new business is managed accordingly. You will play a key part in providing transactions guidance and advice to the wider business.
This is a Pivotal role that will require pprevious experience of managing high volume and value multi-currency, VAT submissions within a larger, globally operating organisation.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of the preparation, review and submission of all VAT returns and associated reports, for all EMEA VAT registered group companies in compliance with current regulations.
- Leading regular workshops and in-house training courses to ensure relevant internal stakeholders have a good understanding of industry VAT rules and regulations.
- Review the preparation and accuracy of VAT balance sheet accounts, resolving any escalated queries to support the management accounts process.
- Responsibility for ensuring any changes in the business are understood and the appropriate actions are taken to ensure proper VAT reporting and compliance.
- Management and development of two Assistant VAT Accountants, delegating and overseeing workflow.
- Motivating and supporting the team in their personal development plans to ensure they are working towards their targets and goals.
- Holding monthly appraisals with the Assistant VAT Accountants, ensuring that relevant training needs are identified and delivered accordingly.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all VAT stakeholders, including Traders, The Operations team and Sales and Purchase Ledger teams.
- Providing support and guidance regarding current and future operations, resolving queries as they arise.
- Supporting the continuous improvements of systems and processes to ensure efficiency across the department.
Required Experience:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CTA Qualified or Finalist .
- Previous experience of UK and European VAT submissions and controls, gained within a larger industry background.
- Up to date knowledge of current UK and European VAT legislation and implications
- A desire to remain and develop within a VAT accounting focussed career path.
- Excellent people management skills, with the ability to lead, train and motivate a small team.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver results, provide guidance and support the wider business with VAT related queries.
- Strong balance sheet reconciliation skills with proven experience in a similar role.
- Maintain a flexible and adaptable approach, understanding the overall goals of the company and working collaboratively to achieve them.
- Advanced analytical abilities, with the ability to interpret significant quantities of financial data and relate back to business issues.
- Advanced Excel skills
