Senior Risk Manager – Financial Lines

The Opportunity:

We have an exciting, newly created role for a Financial Lines Risk Manager to join QBE. This role will focus on delivering risk management services to support our underwriting teams in the attraction and retention of UK and global customers in a broad range of sectors including professional and financial services, technology, healthcare, life sciences, and the public sector. You’ll work within our Risk Solutions team delivering assessment, education, and advisory services to mitigate risk in the areas of professional negligence, management and general liability, medical malpractice, crime, and cyber risk. Applying an enterprise risk management approach, this is a great opportunity for those looking to continue or move into Insurance within a governance, risk, quality, and compliance space.

Your Role:

Delivery of risk management services to select and retain customer and improve risk profiles at individual and group level:

  • Assessment of customer risks providing clear recommendations for underwriting and/or client improvement purposes
  • Provision of risk advice to customer policyholders and brokers
  • Maintaining customer relationships with stakeholders acting as a key contact on allocated areas and clients
  • Working with third-parties as needed to deliver specialist services within budgets and timeframes

Development and delivery of risk educational material

  • Proactively monitor analyse and review the business and claims environment to identify areas of need for risk guidance
  • Produce high quality risk guidance material for delivery in liaison with Marketing & Communications team  
  • Design and maintain questionnaires tools and templates for implementation of our recommendations

Contribute to the promotion of Risk Solutions services and the QBE brand generally through

  • Support the Practice Leader and wider team in the promotion of Risk Solutions services internally and externally
  • Deliver case studies and promotional stories of work undertaken and impact resulting
  • Representing QBE at internal and external risk events and committees

Generally

  • Monitor the business and claims environment and maintain knowledge of risks and best practice within your areas of responsibility, ensuring relevant knowledge is shared and input on appropriate projects
  • Maintain a strong professional network within and external to QBE to ensure effective collaboration when needed
  • Participate in team and cross-department meetings, reporting on progress against team objectives and individual goals, sharing knowledge and ideas for development and improvement.

About You:

  • Experienced and confident in a customer advisory capacity, you’ll have a proven track record of delivering effective risk management products and services to a wide range of business sectors and sizes
  • You’ll have a solid understanding of enterprise risk management and linkages with governance, sustainability, quality assurance, and compliance, and be adept in applying the principles of these in a range of situations
  • You’ll be proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint, ideally having used these for performing data analysis, creating risk management material and presenting educational and promotional information to a high standard
  • Fundamental will be your curiosity in the business environment, commitment to lifelong learning, and the right balance of initiative, creativity, and collaboration to identify risk issues and create solutions for our customers
  • It’s essential to be organised and results-focussed with a quality approach and continuous improvement mindset
  • Whilst experience in at least one each of the sectors and risk areas mentioned would be ideal, more important will be your risk management knowledge and customer skills and an ability to apply the key GRC and QA principles in individual situations.
