The Opportunity

Here at QBE Europe, we are looking to recruit a Senior Capital Modelling Analyst to join Russell Hurdle’s Capital Modelling team. This will be to support the provision of a range of Actuarial services to help ensure that business decisions are made using the best possible quantitative information and support.

Your new role 

Given the fast pace and cyclical demand, it’s important that you already have an in-depth understanding of the workings of a finance department and be driven to succeed. 

Your primary responsibilities will include:  

  • Using appropriate systems and procedures to ensure accurate data is used and subsequently appropriate analyses produced.  This is to include adopting efficient and consistent actuarial models and processed and/or technologies where appropriate. 

  • Ensure appropriate checks are performed within processes to minimize inaccuracies.

  • Comply with documentation of key processes and policies to ensure QBE Europe and its divisions.   

  • Comply with all material legal and regulatory requirements, Adhere to relevant actuarial standards and good practice. 

  • Meet all internal European and/or global internal reporting requirements & support with minimizing the risk of business discontinuity.

  • Assist the Actuarial Manager to ensure that processes are aligned to business needs and fit for purpose.

Your story so far 

In order to thrive in the role of an Actuarial Analyst here at QBE, we would expect you to have working experience in most of the following areas:  

  • You possess or are currently working towards the Associate of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

  • Excellent analytical ability & problem-solving skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel

  • Possess experience of the insurance or financial Services industry (particularly non-life processes and products)

  • Experience with capital modelling or Igloo is beneficial but not a requirement

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders. 

  • Ability to interpret and use numerical data.
