Our London office is currently recruiting for Antitrust, Competition Litigation Associate/Senior Associate/Counsel. The Team
Our Antitrust, Competition and Regulatory (ACR) group has established a leading international reputation, with a team of over 80 competition law specialists across our global network. Our practice is at the cutting edge of developing antitrust, competition and regulatory work.
In the UK our team of over [40] lawyers based in London works on some of the highest profile contentious and non-contentious competition matters in the market. The team covers all aspects of antitrust, competition and regulatory work, from damages litigation to mergers, regulatory appeals to market investigations.
Our team undertakes the full range of competition litigation: acting for both claimants and defendants in both standalone and follow-on claims. We are involved in litigation in the Competition Appeal Tribunal, High Court and (working with EU qualified team members and/or our European offices) the European Courts.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an associate, senior associate or counsel (depending on seniority) to join our Antitrust, Competition & Regulatory team in London. This role is for a qualified solicitor. Although the team covers a wide range of contentious and non-contentious work there is a specific need for competition litigation experience. The role would primarily involve contentious work but there would be opportunities to be involved in other areas of competition law if this was of interest.
Responsibilities
Leading and supervising a team preparing for court and Competition Appeal Tribunal hearings
- Developing litigation strategy and advising clients accordingly.
- Drafting submissions to competition authorities and courts.
- Advising clients on court and Tribunal process and procedure.
- Liaising with opposing counsel in discussions and through correspondence.
- Liaising with counsel on all of the above.
- Researching and advising on competition law issues more generally.
- Assisting in development of knowledge and business development products.
Skills and Experience Required
The candidate shall have at least 5 years of experience in a firm with an excellent reputation in the area of EU/UK Competition law. While a broad range of competition law experience is welcomed, competition litigation experience is essential for this role.
Candidates should display the following competencies;
(a) Possess strong drafting skills.
(b) Demonstrate an aptitude for dealing with complex cases that require a creative approach.
(c) Communicate effectively on both a practical and intellectual level and demonstrate a willingness to listen.
(d) Possess strong organisational and project management skills and the willingness to drive a complex and time critical case to a successful and timely outcome.
(e) Demonstrate strong relationship building skills.
(f) Have an interest in, and an aptitude for, developing the firm’s business, including proactively building a network of personal business contacts and collaborating with colleagues on marketing activities.
(g) Possess strong business acumen – an interest in and understanding of the markets.
