Highly successful City law firm is looking to hire a new Revenue Controller to join on a permanent.

Salary up to 40k

Flexible hybrid working of 2 days in the office, 3 remote

Offices located close to Bank and all mainline City stations

This Revenue Controller position sits within the Revenue team which forms part of the wider Legal Accounts/Finance department, team of 12.  Reporting into the Revenue Manager, working in a close knit, busy, sociable team where you will learn and develop in the role. The firm has one of the best and unique cultures in the London legal sector and the incoming Revenue Controller will get to work on a range of matters and have lots of face time with Partners, Associates and Business Service groups.

The Revenue Controller duties will include:

  • Meeting partners and fee-earners regularly to assess billed and unbilled WIP, disbursements, and outstanding bills
  • Ensuring timely billing, and diligent follow-up on unpaid bills, documenting on the billing system
  • Collaborate with clients and external contacts to confirm payment of all invoices, resolve queries promptly, and enforce payment commitments
  • Handle requests from Partners regarding information from client files to initiate legal proceedings, issue write offs and time and disbursement transfers where appropriate
  • Reviewing significant client exposures with the Revenue Manager, taking action as needed to minimize the firm’s exposure and reduce lock-up
  • Identifying trends and themes to improve recovery and lock-up, reporting and suggesting responses to the Heads of Departments
  • Assist with the wider Finance team on month, quarter and year end activities
  • Assisting in the financial administration of matter files
  • Reconciling accounts/matters and preparing statements of accounts when requested
  • Assist with finance projects, annual audit and process improvement
  • Collaborating with the Commercial Finance team on issues such as volume discounts, pricing queries, and client-level exposure management.
  • Staying informed about professional regulatory standards, such as UK VAT requirements and Solicitors Accounts Rules

This Revenue Controller position would suit a 2nd jobber Revenue Assistant, Legal Biller or experienced Revenue Controller (looking for a better work life balance) who has a keen interest in pursuing a career in revenue control – being strong with Maths/numeracy would be ideal and a minimum 2 years’ experience of working within a billing, revenue, credit control focused role from within a law firm is essential.
