Employer: National Trust
Salary: £35,724 per annum
Date Added: 12/02/2024
Summary
We’re looking for a project manager to lead and develop projects delivering our strategic countryside ambitions for the stunning South Devon coastline. We are looking for an exceptional communicator and a strong team-player who can provide structure to meeting complex challenges.
Working with our existing experienced team you will be responsible for developing, coordinating and shaping the delivery of significant conservation and commercial development work in South Devon.
The role is varied, with many opportunities – Community Forest tree planting, adaptive reuse of buildings, Coastal adaptation work, wider land and nature benefits and more are all in scope. Some elements are already in delivery and will need active management in implementation – other workstreams are still at concept and feasibility stage. It’s an exciting time to be involved in this project, and development opportunities are excellent.
The role is offered on a 2-year fixed term contract basis.
Your application should include your CV and a covering letter describing how your skills and experience align with this role.
What it’s like to work here
You’ll be joining a team of project managers – part of the South West Consultancy – who are motivated and passionate about working at pace and scale. We aim to facilitate lasting change by collaborating, learning and adapting, in a supportive team environment.
You’ll belong to our national Project and Programme Management community with an ambition to establish a culture of excellence in project delivery across the National Trust.
Day-to-day, you’ll work intensively with the team in South Devon, as well as internal and external specialists, stakeholders and partners.
We can be flexible about working patterns and are happy to explore and agree a working arrangement which strikes the right balance for you and the National Trust. Regular on site presence at properties along the South Devon coast will be crucial to the success of the role.
What you’ll be doing
Working within the National Trust’s Project Management Framework, you’ll cover all stages of the project lifecycle from feasibility to handover. The role will include leading engagement with stakeholders and key funding partners as we continue to develop the right solutions for our properties. Through effective time management, you will make sure that the work delivers at pace and within funding deadlines.
The role will involve working closely with the property teams, project board and clients to deliver elements already in implementation – but will need effective time management and prioritisation skills to ensure those parts at concept and feasibility stage are progressed at pace.
You will also be an active part in the Trust’s wider project management community – a network of sharing of best practice and mentoring, as well as technical support and development, ensuring that our projects are delivering benefits in line with our national strategy.
Who we’re looking for •Project management experience with a strong knowledge of project management lifecycles and processes including feasibility and design management, ideally with experience from the heritage/conservation sector
•You hold a recognised project (APM PMQ/PRINCE2) management qualification and have evidence of ongoing CPD in your career to date
•Confident in procuring and managing contractors and consultants
•Excellent communication skills to build relationships with project team members and stakeholders at all levels
•Knowledge of budgets, finance and co-ordination of projects
•The ability to work under pressure and at pace with the ability to manage conflicting demands The package
