The Opportunity;

This is an exciting opportunity for a HR professional to join our client’s People team as a People Partner.  Reporting into the Lead People Partner, the People Partner will be the ‘go to’ lead for their dedicated business area, overseeing all employee relations practices and processes to ensure they are aligned to Company goals.  

Key elements of the People Partner role include:

  • Working with a dedicated business area to help shape and implement effective People solutions to support the achievement of business plans, and to meet the needs of their workforce (this may include overseeing a different business area in support of peer’s annual leave etc.)
  • Conducting and providing support and advice on the ER cases, including capability, disciplinary, grievance, TUPE, redundancy and dismissal
  • Supporting managers via coaching and training, upskilling their capabilities in addressing low level issues (i.e. absence, conduct, performance management etc)
  • Engaging with L&D on the delivery of HR training programmes for people managers 
  • Reviewing Employee Engagement feedback and driving actions to enhance the employee experience
  • Driving and owning the People dashboard metrics to ensure KPIs are met and colleagues are motivated to perform through supporting managers to be the best they can be
  • Providing advice, training and development to colleagues in respect of Company policies and employment legislation 
  • Assisting with implementing and developing People policies, practices and procedures in line with current legislation and Company objectives
  • Flexibility to work remotely and travel to any Hays Travel location as required with Head Office presence a key part of the role

This is a permanent opportunity based at my client’s site in Sunderland, with the flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week.

About You;

The ideal People Partner:

  • Well versed in managing high-volume ER cases, with a high degree of resilience and confidence
  • Knowledge of all areas of current employment law and keen to maintain and update knowledge
  • Strong understanding of a people partnering approach, with the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relations both internally and externally
  • Previous experience in Employment Tribunals and Trade Union liaison will be beneficial, however this is not essential
  • Experience with Apprentices and Safeguarding is very desirable
  • CIPD qualified, or qualified by experience
