The Opportunity
QBE is developing and investing in its data management capabilities, and we are creating the position of Market Data Manager. The Group Data Management team is the centre of data governance, quality and control and it has direct responsibility over the development and maintenance of QBE’s data asset. This is a global role, responsible for delivering centralised management of Market data feeds across all global divisions. This will include ownership and implementation of a data solution to source and use 3rd party data. You will leverage supplier relationships and establish effective processes to ensure data is accessible, high quality, timely and comprehensive. This role requires management of feeds in a controlled and standardised manner to reduce risk, total cost of data ownership and ensure compliance. You will act as subject matter expert, inputting into development of a centralised Data Marketplace and championing adoption of a centralised approach.
Your New Role

Product ownership and delivery of a centralised global Data Marketplace for business users to source and use 3rd party data ingested by QBE.

Lead as a subject matter expert to deliver a global data platform aligned to business requirements.

Engage with business teams and align across global divisions.

Work with all global divisions to drive adoption of a global Data Marketplace solution, promoting benefits of a centralised approach.

Identify strategic opportunities for data and services rationalisation (i.e., costs savings and optimisation initiatives), through the review of the business’ data usage and needs.

With Group Procurement, manage the contractual relationships with the Data Providers, which include suppliers such as publishers, feed providers and exchanges, ensuring the best strategic outcomes to fulfil the business Market Data needs.

Work with Group Procurement to monitor contracts and move forward with close-out, extension, or renewal of contracts, documenting the outcomes for the following renewal.

Embed privacy, security, governance, procurement, and controls to mitigate risks and provide assurance.

Manage business usage of data, ensuring compliance with contract restrictions.

Ensure financial reporting and budget monitoring of market data, managing the annual global Market Data Budget.

Manage onboarding of new data or changes to existing data, as well as with any query regarding contract agreement and products information

Implement and enrich the data feeds including contract agreement identifiers, metadata related to vendor and contract information and work on the design of efficient contract management framework.
About you

Demonstrable knowledge of market data vendors.
-
Exposure to reference and index data alongside Front Office market facing workstations.

Knowledge of back-end data transfers, data management and front-end usage.

Relevant market data experience within a bank, financial services, insurance or a regulated environment.

Product ownership and subject matter expertise in centralised data platforms.

Experience of assisting the business in major product changes, implementing, replacing, and decommissioning market data feeds or products.

Proven track record of using data analytics to solve problems, make decisions and drive strategy.

Familiarity with third party oversight practices.

Use of JIRA and Confluence systems.

Able to demonstrate CBAM.

Experience with market data technologies e.g. ILM, Rimes, MDSL.

Inventory management.

Advanced use of Bloomberg Portal, DACs or similar.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

3-5 years of experience with exchange/data vendor management or data compliance within financial services.
