A global manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Manufacturing / Value Engineer to join their team in Nottingham.  Ideally you have experience of working in manufacturing environment with knowledge of a variety of processing techniques such as CNC, plastic mouldings, plastic welding, plating and assembly etc.   

As a Manufacturing / Value Engineer you will work alongside the global Engineering, Quality and Purchasing teams to develop and improve the processes, documentation and systems for Suppliers to improve quality and costs.

Using your technical manufacturing knowledge, you will analyse and advise the teams and suppliers on manufacturing effectiveness to identify and recommend improvements to machinery operations, processes, production methods to improve process and product capability. You will also liaise with engineers in other countries (mainly USA) on similar projects.

You will support suppliers in UK and Europe with some global as well. Some travel will be expected, but only 10 – 15% of role so mainly office based at the Nottingham manufacturing site.

Key responsibilities of Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Liaise with suppliers and engineering during new product development to manage component manufacturability and quality concerns
  • Develop value stream maps of supplier production facility processes to identify possible waste and act to eliminate it.
  • Support supply chain on the evaluation of new suppliers for approval
  • Assist the supplier corrective actions
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, such as material suitability, specifications, verification methods, and variability
  • Provide technical support to Procurement, R & D and other stakeholders

Qualifications and skills required of Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Ideally Degree qualified in Engineering, or HND / HNC with good experience in similar role
  • Previous experience as a Manufacturing / Production Engineer / SQE
  • Six Sigma Black/ Green Belt certification advantageous
  • Language skills in either German, French, Japanese or Mandarin would be a bonus, but not essential
