Grafton Banks Finance are working with a growing Manufacturing company with offices in Hastings, East Sussex to recruit a newly created Management Accountant position on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting into the Group Finance Director you will take responsibility for managing the smooth running of the companies’ finances focusing on setting up processes and procedures and implementing system tools and structures.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Performance Reporting – To ensure that weekly and periodic reports are prepared (and submitted), and that exceptions are identified and commented upon.
- To support the business managers, ensuring that they understand the information generated and are using it to improve performance.
- To generate ad-hoc information (normally commercial, purchasing or operational related) to support the analysis of business performance.
- Rolling Forecast – To support the generation of the commercial, purchasing or operational elements of the rolling forecast, and review the results to ensure they are sensible.
- Ensure variances against targets are explained and understood.
- Control Environment – To apply the commercial and operational control systems system (e.g. Asset verification, PO authority limits)
- To identify areas of improvement / weaknesses and suggest modifications as appropriate.
- Month End – To prepare and post journals, review the results and reconcile to expected figures.
- To prepare balance sheet account reconciliations for review and highlight any issues as applicable.
- Working Capital – To report actual cash performance, and support the short-term cash forecast process.
- To control debtor receipts and creditor payments to predetermined targets.
- Group Requirements – To liaise with group functions and external parties (e.g. external audit and taxation) as required
- To review reporting (e.g. Intercompany balances) and control systems and suggest modifications to ensure that they comply with group standards.
- IS and Business Processes – To maintain the management accounting systems (e.g. ERP and Payroll).
- To ensure that issues with systems and processes are highlighted and improvements are suggested.
- People Management – to manage the Finance and Accounts team.
- To recruit, appraise and set objectives for direct reports to achieve agreed service levels, and to develop improve.
The successful candidate will be either Part or Qualified ( ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or QBE. You will need to have solid practical experience within finance, management accounts and finance management reporting into Director level. You will need to have excellent communication skills and IT skills and be able to work on a sole charge basis with management skills.
