A long established not-for-profit organisation is seeking to cover 12 months maternity leave with a qualified accountant to take responsibility for the operational management of finances and the governance of the organisation that operates in the culture sector. Ideally with a January start, you will have overall responsibility for accounting, management and internal controls within the finance function, managing a team of 2. Your remit wil include:
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts and cashflow forecasts in a timely manner.
- Prepare the statutory accounts and manage the audit process through to the filing of the accounts.
- Work closely with Senior Management team to set and manage budgets and update forecasts.
- Leading the Finance Team in the proactive development and documentation of all systems and processes
- Reconcile all control and balance sheet accounts monthly
- Ensure correct charity fund accounting practices and prepare Gift Aid Claim
- Manage relationships with the bank, investment managers, auditors and tax advisors.
- Support the Director in managing commercial activities
- Proactively work to improve efficiencies through continual systems review and development.
- Undertake Company Secretarial duties and attending quarterly meetings of the Board of Trustees.
Successful applicants will have an appropriate accounting qualification (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience within the charity sector and SORP Reports. You will have strong systems development skills and be familiar with recommended practice for internal financial controls for charities. Extensive management accounting, budgeting and business planning experience is essential along with proven management skills. Working knowledge of partial exemptions on VAT and other relevant tax reliefs is beneficial. The organisation operates a hybrid working model.
