GI Group are now seeking to appoint an Information Governance Support Officer to our public sector client based in Stratford-upon-Avon. The Information Governance Support Officer will be the key contact for members of the public in relation to all Information Requests. They will coordinate and support service areas in compiling responses to information requests and assist and provide support at Information Governance meetings.

Main Duties of the Information Governance Support Officer:

  • Consider and check the validity of all information requests and where necessary make any additional enquiries of the requester. Disseminate these to relevant service areas and track progress to ensure that requests are responded to within the timeframe allowed using the organisation’s bespoke IT system.
  • Assist and support all service areas, where required, in handling information requests through the provision of advice and guidance.
  • Ensure all information produced by the service areas is fully validated in accordance with organisational standards and send the responses to requesters.
  • Deal with all aspects of communication from requesters and carry out general administration.
  • Establish and maintain a data audit and keep systems up to date. Provide regular reports and statistics on information requests received by the organisation.
  • Support the Information Governance Manager in the development, communication and implementation of robust Information Governance processes and practices across the organisation.

Role Requirements:

  • A good understanding of data protection principles, GDPR and FOIA legislation
  • Practical experience of dealing with Information Requests
  • The ability to consider and interpret legislation and guidance to support service areas with Data Protection related issues
  • The ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues and customers
  • The ability to use initiative and work independently and manage a varied workload
  • Able to work under pressure in a busy environment. Demonstrates a high level of organisational and operational skills
