PAY RATE: £25.22 paye / £30.97 umbrella per hour (Can be increased based on experience)

DURATION/HOURS: 3 months (possible extension)/ Mon-Fri 36 hours

START DATE: ASAP

Role purpose:

The programme will have a specific focus on reaching and supporting communities that are underrepresented in the care sector to improve pathways into good work and provide the skills and wraparound support to improve individuals’ health, well-being, and economic resilience.

The SWL Social Care Placements Programme Lead will lead delivery of the supported work placement programme ensuring it meets its aims and objectives and achieves high levels of participant outcomes. This will involve working closely with a wide range of partners to develop and put in place the programme, thorough operational planning and administration, curriculum development, quality management and monitoring and evaluation.

The Programme Lead will work closely with social care employers to market and source placements, work with colleges, DWP, local authorities and voluntary sector partners to identify and secure participants, develop and deliver preparation activities, match people to employment opportunities, and support job seekers to identify their experiences, skills, needs, talents, and employment preferences.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Working with employers to source, secure, set up and deliver placements
  • Identifying and recruiting participants, matching them with placements and on boarding them into their placements
  • Developing and delivering with partners pre placement training e.g. employability development, vocational training so participants are prepared for their placement
  • Supporting participants before, during and after the placement including in securing permanent employment
  • Carry out all aspects of project management including tracking progress, reporting and maintaining effective governance, risk management. Analyse and review performance of all project key performance indicators to track performance and identify risks to project delivery
  • Embed robust systems and processes for contract management, financial and risk management and tracking and reporting on key deliverables to ensure the budget and funding agreement reporting requirements are achieved
  • Build and promote a vibrant and diverse ‘in work placement experience’ to facilitate peer to peer learning, collaboration, and the scaling of what works to enhance the impact of the supported work placements project, to delivery partners directly involved in the care hub and across the wider internal and external stakeholder network
  • Direct, manage and support the work placements project support officer to ensure their contribution is maximised and high levels of performance are maintained.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with partners working in similar areas to align and ensure join up between projects.
  • Develop strong partnership working across the area, with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance impact and remove barriers to system change
  • Ensure effective evaluation of the learning and impact of the supported work placements project takes place and that participant case studies and feedback collected to help evidence the impact of the project.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Excellent breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in a relevant discipline/subject area.
  • A good understanding of the employment and skills opportunities and challenges across health and social care
  • Good track record of successfully managing complex programmes and projects, using a range of project management tools
  • Experience of delivering placement or work experience programmes
  • Experience of enhancing outcomes, data and formulating sound actions
  • Experience of career development support and/or developing individuals’ skills in a workplace context
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven experience of engaging with and influencing multiple, cross sector stakeholders to drive collaboration and affect change.
  • Proven ability to organise workload, prioritise, work under pressure, meet deadlines and follow tasks to successful conclusion
  • Numerate with ability to identify, collate, analyse and interpret key data and information, and manage financial information
  • Competent user of mainstream IT software, web-based technology and social media.
