Charity People are delighted to be partnering with Anaphylaxis UK, a leading charity that provides support and information to people with serious allergies, to help bring on board a skilled and dedicated Health Information and Services Manager.
Anaphylaxis is a serious and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that can occur suddenly and without warning. Reactions usually begin within minutes and rapidly progress. Anaphylaxis is potentially life-threatening and always requires an immediate emergency response.
While there’s no treatment or cure for anaphylaxis, Anaphylaxis UK’s mission is to save lives by improving the recognition, diagnosis, and management of serious allergies. They work to raise awareness about anaphylaxis and offer extensive resources, including information on how to manage anaphylaxis, how to recognise the signs and symptoms and how to prepare for emergency situations. They are committed to improving awareness and education and strive to create a safer world for everyone with serious allergies.
It is an exciting time to be part of a growing organisation and be an integral part of the future of Anaphylaxis UK. The Health Information and Services Manager will oversee the creation and upkeep of health-related resources for the charity and manage a team of Information Officers.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee health resources: You will oversee the creation and maintenance of health resources for the charity, ensuring accuracy, evaluating resource effectiveness and adherence to standards.
- Team management: You will manage a team of Information Officers, providing guidance and support for effective performance, and manage the team budget.
- Sector insights: You will stay updated on clinical practices and allergy sector trends to inform resource development and build an evidence base for communications. You will foster effective working relationships with allergy researchers and healthcare professionals, contribute relevant projects, and participate in conferences to promote the Anaphylaxis UK’s work.
- Policy and influencing: You will identify policy opportunities and collaborate with the Chief Executive on influencing decisions and support the Clinical and Scientific Panel.
The Health Information and Services Manager will have experience in allergy and experience as a health care professional, either as a nurse or Allied Health Professional. The successful candidate will have research and audit experience, with the ability to analyse data and interpret research from scientific papers. You will have the skills to write medical and scientific information in an everyday way. You will have experience of managing a small, remote team, and will be able to effectively manage budgets. You will be experienced dealing with the public, including those who may be distressed. The ideal candidate may be an allergy nurse with specialist knowledge, and clinical experience, who understands the health sector and is looking for a new role within the charity sector.
The role is home-based, but you will need to be easily accessible to the Anaphylaxis UK office in Farnborough and willing to attend the office and meetings locally on a regular basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a passionate and dedicated team and make a career changing contribution to the mission of Anaphylaxis UK that everyone with a serious allergy can enjoy the same quality of life as someone without an allergy. If you are excited by this and have the relevant skills and experience to apply, we would be delighted to hear from you.
