About the Head of People role:

As our Head of People you will act as a key strategic partner to Chief Officers, Service Leads and other senior members of the Force management team and its staff associations providing expert advice and guidance where required.

In this challenging role, you will be responsible for the leadership and provision of quality people and organisational development services throughout North Wales Police. You will need to be bold, with innovative problem-solving ideas at a strategic level; coupled with the willingness and enthusiasm to drive change and support your team throughout.

Responsibilities as our Head of People:

  • To take a lead role in helping to shape the organisations culture over time through its approach to people management.
  • To provide professional leadership and direction to the POD function, overseeing the full extent of the functions activities.
  • To develop and implement a delivery plan that supports the realisation of the POD strategy encouraging a culture of continuous improvement and delivering a formal programme oh change where required to meet the organisation’s needs.
  • To ensure that business as usual POD services are efficient and effective and that guidance, policy and procedure is fit for purpose and continues to be based on good practice wherever possible.

What we’re looking for in our Head of People:

  • Chartered member of CIPD (or equivalent experience)
  • The ability to build effective working relationships through clear and effective communication and a collaborative approach at all levels.
  • The ability to translate strategy into action and shape POD services to support organisational needs.
  • Is capable of thinking beyond the constraints of current ways of working.
  • Evidence a clear understanding of strategic POD related issues, and their role in improving organisational performance.
  • To demonstrate a wide knowledge and experience of negotiation in an unionised environment and sound knowledge of the employment legislation.
