Head of Finance and Operations (remote)

  • Work with our outsourced finance function to produce the annual accounts, management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage and mitigate our financial risk exposure.
  • Manage the organisations bank accounts liaising with our outsourced finance team.
  • Manage HR, driving a people strategy forward, improving the wellbeing of staff and ensuring there is staff development and performance tracking in place.
  • Manage legal, ensuring relevant contracts are set up for external providers and clients. Work with the CEO to lead on preparation and delivery of board papers. Track and check we are meeting companies house compliance requirements.
  • Manage IT, ensuring data security by implementing and maintaining relevant GDPR policies and support the review of IT systems to ensure we are being as efficient as possible.

Candidate Profile:

  • Demonstrated financial literacy with a degree or qualification in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated UK HR experience within a diverse team.
  • Experience with UK charity accounting and governance is preferred.
  • Experience with US charity accounting and governance notably US 501c3 experience is beneficial.
  • Extensive management-level experience relevant to the role.
  • Advanced experience with accounting software packages (ideally Xero), including strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
  • Understanding of data privacy standards in the UK (and ideally also the US).
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Strong planning skills including attention to detail, critical thinking, multi-tasking and problem-solving.
