Head of Software Engineering / Engineering Manager / Director of Software Engineering / VP of Engineering
Are you an experienced software technology professional who is passionate about innovation and leadership? Are you looking for an opportunity where you can be at the forefront of building a software engineering practice from scratch, and get to collaborate with diverse experts and engage with clients from various industries?
We are an exciting and fast-growing digital and technology consultancy who are on a journey to build a brand new software engineering capability from the ground up. Within the next 5 years our aim is to have grown this practice to 100 heads, providing B2C software engineering consultancy services building and delivering client concepts.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
Establish the vision and strategy for the new software engineering practice including tooling, methods and ways of working etc.
Start hiring your first members of the software engineering practice
Leading the development of the software practice, providing technical leadership and guidance to the development team, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
Interface with key stakeholders and contribute to all stages of the software development life cycle.
Create high-level design artefacts and deliver high-quality code for assigned modules.
Contribute to pre-sales activities, such as technical demonstrations and solution architecture design.
Lead validation for testing and support activities related to implementation, transition, and warranty.
Utilise your wide-ranging full-stack development experience to build and support application development.
What we are looking for in this individual:
We are looking for creative problem solvers, who have gained experience in setting up or leading a team or squad(s) directly, and come from a hardcore development background. Ideally using some of the more contemporary technologies and tooling such as JavaScript, NodeJS, ReactJS, Python, .NET Core, CI/CD, Microservices, , Serverless, etc. The technology is experience is agnostic so to speak, but the client ideally wants people from these sort of languages / tooling rather then some more of the dated stuff.
So, ideally you’ll have experience of the following, whilst this isnt a hands on role, having that experience is quite important. This is definitely a leadership and strategic opportunity:
Significant experience in full-stack development (varying tech stacks but front-end focused).
Strong proficiency in designing and building applications using Microsoft Azure services and solutions.
Proficiency in Agile methodologies and toolsets.
Ability to analyse issues, identify solutions, and make informed decisions based on technical expertise and business objectives.
Multi-cloud environment experience (desirable).
