The role
Fiduciary management provides the research and modelling capabilities to support client investment advice and it manages the strategic risk and return profile of implemented client portfolios, connecting the pension investment programme to client requirements. The CPM team plays a central role across in keeping a strategic perspective on all parts of the total portfolio to ensure the services and products meet clients need.
The CPM team (within FM ) ensures implemented client portfolios align to the Trusteeโs agreed risk appetite and investment strategy and ensures that total portfolio risks and exposures are managed effectively across the pooled funds to align to good client outcomes. CPM also co-ordinates with different teams to ensure that investment products and services provided to clients are setup to deliver against clients requirements.
Leadership is vital for this role and will span strategy and business plan delivery, talent management, stakeholder management, and helping to manage the broader FM team.
You will be a subject matter expert and will be responsible for ensuring client portfolios, and the overall total portfolio, are invested in line with risk appetite, and allocated efficiently across public and private markets, and real assets to deliver client investment objectives. CPM are the key link between FM and the investment teams, ensuring that long-term strategic investment decisions are implemented effectively.
The management of liquidity risk is a key responsibility, ensuring that client assets are protected from events that could cause short-term liquidity issues, planning for such events, and pacing the deployment of illiquid assets to align to strategic allocations over the medium-term.
Responsibilities
- Strategy and business plan delivery. Set function strategy and meaningfully contribute to broader Fiduciary Management team strategy and budget planning.
- Embed strategy into a clear business plan, allocate resource, oversee progress of goals, and adapt to changing client and business needs.
- Talent management. Accountability for recruiting, managing, and developing a highly engaged CPM function. Ensure each member of the functionโs role is clear and that they are well supported with career planning learning and development.
- Stakeholder management. Deliver clear messages, engage stakeholders, and add value at Fiduciary Management Committee, Investment & Risk Committee and other investment-related committees/fora as required.
- Hands on delivery of function responsibilities. Bring senior subject matter expertise to function and broader team, often leading on the delivery of complex and impactful projects. Senior responsibility for client trading and risk management.
- Manage Fiduciary Management team. Active member of Fiduciary Management Senior Leadership Team and other cross-business leadership forums, managing budget and change, identifying and helping to mitigate Fiduciary Management team enterprise risks, and promoting a culture aligned to company values.
- External visibility and networks. Represent the company externally as an SME on core areas of responsibility and connect it into peer best practice.
- Contribute positively to the company’s external reputation.
Core areas of responsibility for CPM function:
- Client portfolio trading and risk management โ managing client allocations to pooled funds, reviewing pooled fund mandates and risk parameters as required.
- Total portfolio risk management, with particular focus on liquidity management.
- Track client position against goals and pro-actively work with ALM and Fiduciary Clients team to review agreed investment strategy and client mandate if relevant.
- Client transition management, illiquid asset pacing and investment planning.
- Pooled fund range design and operating parameters.
- Co-ordinate implementation of new Fiduciary products and services.
