The role of Financial Reporting Trainer is a fantastic opportunity for you to be a senior member of the Financial Reporting Training team and contribute to the development of the next generation of accountants and auditors at RSM. The growth of the business across all service lines gives rise to ever-increasing volume and complexity of financial reporting training needs.

At RSM, we believe that high quality training is achieved when the trainer is involved at every stage. The training team are involved from the very start, collaborating with the business to scope the training needs. They bring innovation in the design of the training and ultimately, are involved in delivery of the finished product. The team have full responsibility for training projects and are supported throughout including technical reviews, a separate team of eLearning developers and peer reviews within the wider training team.
The training team work closely with various stakeholders from the business to develop and deliver a programme of training that both responds to the regulatory rigours of the profession and complements the professional development of every member of the team.
Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities will be tailored to reflect the capabilities of the ideal candidate and scoped in collaboration with the individual. You will be expected to:
- Collaborate with the business stakeholders to scope, design and deliver financial reporting (FRS 102 and IFRS) and Company Law courses for classroom and digital delivery. Your audience will range from new trainees through to qualified staff and partners
- Be imaginative and pro-active in your approach to delivering both individual training courses and the development of the programme of courses
- Have excellent communication skills and be able to suggest appropriate learning solutions, whether these are classroom courses, webinars, videos or other media
About the ideal candidate
Being a trainer is much more than teaching people what the standards say. It’s about using your understanding of the subject matter to bring the content to life. You will be used to working with stakeholders within a professional services or financial services environment and will have supported a wider training team in the development and coordination of training programmes.
As the majority of training delivery is remote, you will be comfortable in working independently and will not be phased by answering challenging technical questions from audiences around FRS102 and IFRS.
The role requires:
- Manage and oversee 2 direct reports, including training, coaching, and performance management (at Senior Manager level)
- You will be ACA, ICAS, or equivalent qualified
- Strong project management skills
- Strong Financial Reporting technical knowledge, with an interest in writing and developing training
- Delivery of training and predominantly online, but occasionally in person. Therefore, there is a requirement to be able to travel anywhere nationally. Substantial advance notice of all travel requirements is generally given (this will only happen occasionally).
