The Facilities Management team manages a portfolio of properties. This service provides support and guidance to managers of services including office waste disposal, grounds maintenance, accommodation management as well as the provision of technical advice.
Salary: £24,294 to £24,702 per annum
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until 28 February 2025
Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week) Monday to Friday (08:00am to 4:30pm, you will be expected to work one day per week from 08:30am to 5:00pm. Final arrangements to be confirmed with the successful candidate)
Location: County Hall North, Madeira Ave, Horsham RH12 1AB and Crawley Library, Southgate Ave, Crawley RH10 6HG (Hybrid and Flexible Working)
All West Sussex County Council (WSCC) employees have a WSCC location as their contractual work location, however we do operate a ‘Smarter working’ approach, this is something that you agree locally with your manager, for what works best for you, your role and your team. More details will be shared once you start working.

The Opportunity
As a Facilities Support Officer, you will be part of a supportive team managing maintenance and compliance at County Council buildings, ensuring a safe environment for staff and customers.
You will manage helpdesk calls, using your initiative and judgment to decide how best to response and ensure they are assigned to the correct service.
Reporting to the Facilities Management Helpdesk Manager, you will provide expert advice, resolve a range of customer enquires via Concerto (automated response system) and emails. You will confidently record all customer queries to ensure that they are dealt with efficiently.

About You
This role is office based and will involve frequent phone calls. You will need to have great interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with a wide and diverse range of people such as Senior Management, your Facility colleagues, and members of the public.
With a customer focussed approach, you will be a strong problem solver, be a team player and have understanding and appreciation of the need to maintain essential building services and security.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, communicating on several different levels with multiple stakeholders and adapting your style accordingly.
