Engineering Goods & Materials Inspector

Due to continued growth, an established and specialist engineering firm, who design, manufacture, install and maintain their equipment around the UK, are now keen to appoint an experienced Inspector of Goods & Materials.
** Applications are welcome from a fabrication/welding background wanting to move into an inspection role **
ESSENTIAL TO APPLY
City & guilds or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
Understanding of resource planning including working with stakeholders to ensure inspections are carried out appropriately.
Experience inspecting goods & materials within engineering.
Able to create excellent working relationships with other departments and suppliers.
Good working understanding of engineering drawings, fabrication, welding and assembly.
An understanding of Microsoft Word/Excel and/or stock controls software.
Happy to attend supplier’s sites on occasion to carry out material inspections prior to delivery.
The ability to take ownership of tasks and work on one’s own initiative with a ‘can do’ attitude is essential.
Full clean driving licence.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Willingness to get hands dirty.
THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Works Manager and working closely within the Production Team including the Factory Supervisor and Team Leaders.
The proposal of this role is to maintain quality and assist with the smooth running of the projects through the organisation and ensure the timely approval of materials for fabrication.
Predominantly carry out the inspection of delivered materials to ensure quality, correctness and items are manufactured to the correct drawing dimensions.
Working alongside or on behalf of the other inspectors to ensure all items meet the expected product quality.
On occasion, attend supplier’s sites to carry out material inspections prior to delivery.
Inspection of goods/materials inwards plus assisting stores.
Undertaking inspections, ensuring products are completed to quality requirement and ensuring all non-compliances are rectified in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with all Legislation, Codes of Practice, Standards, Regulations, Company Rules, and Procedures including Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
Act as a conduit between business and internal/external teams.
Resource planning including working with stakeholders to ensure inspections are carried out appropriately.
