Job Purpose:

To support the EDS team through testing, re-work, and up-date activities for harnesses in development, pre-production, and production environments

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and up-date prototype vehicle harnesses for specific test requirements
  • Carry out labcar harness up-dates
  • Vehicle or rig fault investigation, root cause definition, and solution definition
  • Rework donor harnesses to mod sheet or drawing instructions
  • Support all required pre-production build phases to help identify build issues and react to issues found
  • Provide technical expertise to ensure industry best practice is followed in workshop areas
  • Maintain rework documentation to ensure clarity of status for components and vehicles
  • Identify components required to complete reworks and support part number specification and order placement
  • Work closely with EDS engineers to meet programmes needs through prototype build phases

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of automotive electrical systems and components
  • Experience of automotive harness design, construction, and modification
  • Reading and understanding circuit diagrams and harness drawings
  • Re-working of automotive harnesses โ€“ re-pinning, circuit changes, routing changes
  • Knowledge of harness component definition and where to source parts from
  • Working knowledge of relevant workshop and production line regulations
  • Analysing data from supplier testing and work to timely solutions when required
  • Some knowledge of product development cycle from concept to launch completion
  • Some experience of automotive pre-production build environments
  • Experience of working in a cross functional team to tackle complex issue resolution
  • Some knowledge and experience of NX and Team Centre
  • An understanding and experience of 3D and 2D (drafting) CAD.

  • Appropriate engineering qualifications
