Deputy Manager

The Role

The main purpose of this role is to support the Registered Manager in the day to day running of the children’s home including deputising for them as and when required. The key responsibilities will be to assist the Manager in the management and development of the homes and staff to drive the delivery of an excellent quality service for the people we support.

Purpose

  • The effective development and delivery of high-quality residential care to young people and their families which improve outcomes.
  • Leading, managing, and inspiring a staff team, ensuring that team members work effectively with children, young people, families, and all internal and partner agency staff.
  • Carrying out all statutory duties as determined, principally in relevant childcare legislation, Children’s Homes Regulations and standards.
  • Ensuring all services are planned and delivered in a way that maximises participation and reflects children’s rights in relation to services being provided.
  • Promoting best practice, working on shift as the lead person for role modelling and developing good practice.
  • Liaising with multi-agency partners.
  • Deputising in the absence of the Registered Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will lead on the delivery of high quality care and support within your designated area of the children’s homes and be responsible for ensuring that it is compliant to the Children’s home regulations and Ofsted’s quality standards.
  • You will ensure that you lead your team to provide exceptional experiences and outcomes for young people which support their personal development and readiness for adulthood. You will be responsible and accountable for the performance of your allocated staff team ensuring they are well led and trained.
  • You will ensure your team are clear on the expectations of their role and have been given the knowledge, skills and support to be able to succeed.
  • You will coach and mentor Support Workers in relation to Great Interactions and facilitation skills, acting as a role model for excellent practice.

What we need from you ??????

  • You will have experience of supporting vulnerable people, ideally those with a learning disability. You will have managed a team.
  • You’ll be creative in your thinking and your approach to staff, the people we support and their families, able to inspire and motivate.
  • You’ll need to be well-organised, with a good understanding of budgeting, and be IT-literate.
  • You will need to be qualified with level 3 residential childcare.
  • You must be a driver with your own transport , as you will travel regularly between services in the area, as well as to meetings, conferences and training.

Essential

  • At least 2 years of Supervisory or Management experience gained within children’s homes
  • At least 2 years’ experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism or related experience.
  • Must hold the level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care
  • Significant knowledge and experience of implementing statutory legislation concerning children’s social care work, including the Children’s Home Regulations and Ofsted’s Quality Standards
  • A commitment to a Person Centred Approach that is focussed on the needs and aspirations of people we support placing them at the centre of all planning.
  • Experience of leading or working within a team to deliver personalised services within the sector
  • Experience of leading, motivating and inspiring a team and others through your actions
  • Skilled in identifying and accessing local networks and resources to support people to engage with new experiences and activities
  • The ability to understand issues from others view points and build an atmosphere of trust and openness.
  • Experience of giving and receiving (then act upon) honest and constructive feedback
  • A working knowledge of relevant legislation including Equal Opportunities, Diversity, Human Rights, Safeguarding, Health & Safety, GDPR.
