Our client is seeking an Interim Democratic Services Team Leader to support the Democratic services functions including:
- Managing the Democratic Process
- Ensuring decisions are made and recorded legally
- Providing support and advice to members including decision making, allowances, training etc.
- Providing support to the Lord Mayor and High Sheriff
- Managing the democratic services team including political assistants and the Trade Union Representative
The role is temporary whilst they recruit permanently into the position and the successful temporary applicant can apply for the permanent role.
The role is hybrid, 50% office and 50% homeworking however will involve occasional evening meetings and increased office presence during Election times
Main Responsibilities:
- To ensure that systems are in place which allows the Council to comply with its governance commitments in liaison with relevant senior officers
- To ensure that effective member support and development services are provided
- To service allocated meetings
- To lead on key projects as required within democratic services
- Diarise, arrange and minute/record all meetings including taking responsibility for preparation of agendas, reports and minutes and taking follow up action.
- To ensure that decisions taken by individuals are properly recorded in accordance with required legislation, and that the democratic services team are compliant with freedom of information and data protection requirements
The successful applicant will:
- Have substantial Executive Assistant / Personal Assistant experience at a Senior Level
- Proven diary management experience
- Be confident minute taking at Exec Level meetings
- Strong organisational skills
- Good presentation skills
- Excellent IT Skills
- Democratic services knowledge desired but not essential
