Job Introduction
Data Management Analyst is a key role in our journey to make finance becoming a data driven organization.
Working within the Financial & Regulatory Reporting, the role holder is responsible for implementation, oversight, awareness and maintenance of the finance’s approach to data management. This includes contributing to the design, documentation and implementation of the data governance framework, policies, and related standards related to data management, EUDA management and Master Data management; supporting the establishment of finance’s operating model for data ownership and the finance’s data governance committee structures.
The role reports directly to the line manager of Financial & Regulatory Reporting and is part of a small team of data analysts responsible for embedding best practice data governance and quality practices across finance.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake Data Steward activities outlined in data management policies, frameworks, procedures to establish data governance and risk management for finance’s critical data. Including but not limited to:
- Supporting the enterprise-wide data catalogue to document business glossary definitions, taxonomies and ontologies and align to Group data models and standards
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of a finances data dictionary, working collaboratively with Information Areas Owners and their teams
- Documentation of source to target data lineage, data quality controls and scorecards
- Data quality root cause analysis and management of data quality issue remediation
- Working to support the business and technology teams to identify trusted sources of data
- Identify and mitigate data risks aligned to the Bank’s Risk Management Framework and guide on what well governed data looks like in the context of the Bank’s risk tolerance.
- Champion the continued development of ‘single source of truth’ for critical data, working with other stakeholders including data consumers, data producers and data owners and stewards to define requirements.
- Knowledge how to do data interpretation and the tools around
- Working knowledge of statutory frameworks such as CCPA, GDPR, BCBS and Data Protection Act

- Experience working in data quality, data governance or data management within Financial Services or experience working as a Business Analysis within a Financial Services environment
- Experience of process change or business change delivery in a Financial Services environment, using recognised methodologies e.g. SIX SIGMA, Lean Process or acting as a change champion in a specific Business Area, able to demonstrate current state gap analysis and target state recommendations
- Demonstrate proficiency using Excel and ideally, but not essential, SQL experience to source, analyse, normalise and process data for quality validations
- Strong presentation skills both written and oral, experienced in presenting complex data concepts to a business audience i.e. running workshops and formal data governance meetings
- Knowledge and understanding of master data elements and processes, understanding of static versus transactional data challenges
- Experience and/or knowledge of data quality and lineage tools: Ad Initio, Collibra, Informatica, IBM MDM etc.
- Experience creating and using data models and data definitions.
- Experience of resolving data quality issues and data governance in the financial services industry
