I am excited to be partnering with a Regional Bank based in New York who are looking for an AVP Operational Risk during a period of growth.

This role will provide second line oversight and effective challenge for operations risks, in the IT area. This position will support the Head of Operational Risk by executing the operational risk framework, including but not limited to, risk and control assessments (RCSAs), controls testing, issues and actions management, key risk indicators, operational risk incident reporting, scenario analyses, etc.

Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with the first line business experts in Technology and Information Security to assess key processes, risks, mitigating controls and action plan development.
  • Monitor and perform controls testing to validate the effectiveness of controls in our business units.
  • Assist business units with timely reporting of operational risk incidents including root cause analyses and development of mitigating action plans.
  • Identify and analyze trends in KRIs for risk profile reports, as well as other findings reported to risk management and compare against benchmarking of operational risks and loss data.
  • Perform reviews of operations and provide recommendations to improve quality of risk controls.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Banking, Financial Services, or possess a consulting background, preferably in Operational Risk Management
  • Familiarity with Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) tools.
  • Information Security certification preferred but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to interact with all levels of the Bank.
  • Team player in an evolving operational risk management environment, incorporating a positive attitude and flexible approach.
