We are looking for 2 Senior Data Analysts to join our team in Birmingham.

Your Role:

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be responsible for both the design and undertaking of research and data analysis, drawing upon a wide range of data sources to enable the Commission to understand consumer gambling behaviour, and who is at risk of gambling-related harm, as well as the size and shape of the gambling market in Great Britain. This role plays a key part in the delivery and production of high-quality statistics, data visualisations and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

You will design and deliver a range of research, data analysis and insight which contributes towards the delivery of the Commission’s business plan. You will be responsible for determining the best research or analytical approach for a project. You will also be responsible for communicating the findings through a range of outputs, including written reports, presentations or data visualisations. 

You will have the ability to stimulate, enthuse and create interest amongst others to help embed an evidence-led culture within the Commission, helping to guide internal stakeholders through the process of evidence assurance. You will be confident in using a range of both internal and external data sources. You will be a sounding board and a source of general advice utilising strong problem-solving skills to support colleagues in the development of their workstreams.

You will communicate research and data analysis findings to a range of audiences. You will understand the stakeholder landscape and relevant communications approaches to ensure work is communicated to the right audience in the best way. 

Person Specification:

Essential:

Ability to write effective research and/or data analysis specifications.

Strong analysis skills, with experience of leading the design and subsequent analysis of complex data, such as survey data or administrative data.

A good understanding of statistics and research principles and practices, either gained through a relevant qualification, a degree or suitable experience in a similar role.

Experience of carrying out analysis on large datasets, identifying trends and patterns, recognising and extracting critical factors, and expressing those factors in a business context in a range of formats (such as written reports, charts, infographics and other visualisations).

 Advanced use of Power BI for data visualisation and/or SPSS for statistical analysis. 

Well-developed spoken and written communication skills to convey and present complex data analysis compellingly to a range of audiences (predominantly internal audiences).

Ability to build working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Strong attention to detail and understanding of quality assurance procedures.

Desirable:

Experience of R, Python, or other statistical packages.

Experience of adhering to the Code of Practice for Statistics and official statistics processes.

Knowledge of the gambling industry.
