Summary Are you passionate about working with communities to make a sustainable impact for people and nature? This is a rare opportunity to be part of a unique project, working with partner agencies and very closely with local communities.
We’re looking for an inspirational Engagement & Education Officer to support the delivery of a two-year project on the Holnicote, contributing to the delivery of the National Trust’s Land, Outdoors and Nature Strategy.
This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
Internally you will be known as ‘Volunteering & Community Manager’ What it’s like to work here The National Trust has a significant ambition around climate change and biodiversity at Holnicote and this role is all about bringing these issues to life for people. It is about developing an interest in and enjoyment from the natural world. 
Click here for more information on the Holnicote Estate What you’ll be doing The purpose of this role is twofold. Firstly, to work with a tenant farm on the estate who provide provision for children with SEN. You’ll help to develop curriculum content and activities that engage the children with nature and wildlife on the farm and the wider estate. Secondly, you’ll develop an engagement offer with the local community and visitors focusing on wildlife, farming, climate, and water.  
You’ll be required to lead in the development and delivery of the education and engagement work with oversight from the project manager and support of the wider conservation team.   Who we’re looking for We’d love to hear from you if you have: 

  • Extensive experience of working with and delivering activities to children, young people and/or adults on a one-to-one basis  
  • Good working knowledge of, and commitment to, the principles of safeguarding and child protection 
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements/Risk Assessments 
  • Knowledge and experience of a farming or countryside management environment.  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Good organisation and time management skills
