We have a full time personal advisor post vacancy for a period of 3 months
Working arrangements are office based/agile working 2 days at home if needed, will be covering a case load, visits and assessments. Candidate must be a driver
We want aspirational, positive people to work alongside our existing staff of Personal Advisor’s within the Leaving Care Service. As a PA you will need to be creative, caring, passionate and determined. You will be working alongside a diverse and cohesive team providing support to young people/ young adults.
The PA roles will provide support and interventions to young people in, or leaving care age 16-25. The personal advisor will be the key professional for young people that have left care as well as offering support to young people who are age 16 to 18 developing positive meaningful relationships that will continue into adulthood. You will also carry out assessment of need post 18 and providing aspirational, practical and emotional support based on the assessment and subsequent co-developed pathway plan.
Key requirements for the role;
NVQ level 4 childcare/ social care or degree or equivalent relevant qualification
A good understanding of Leaving Care, Children & Adult legislation and guidance that underpins this area of work.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2 years of working with young people up to 25 years within clear boundaries
A high level of understanding of the educational, employment and social care needs of young people leaving care and making the important step into adulthood.
Knowledge of the formal assessment processes relating to young people and the ability to formulate, implementation and review individual pathway plans in partnership with social workers, managers and partner agencies.
Knowledge of relevant legislation related to young people leaving care, asylum seeking young people and welfare reform.
Knowledge of adult safeguarding
A high level of understanding of childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences and how this can potentially impact young people into adulthood
Experience of working with young people who have been the victims of, or who are vulnerable to exploitation, gang involvement, drug and alcohol misuse or criminal activity.
KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of the issues relating to Children in Care and Care Leavers.
Understanding of Child Protection issues.
An awareness of systemic practice and strengths-based practice.
SKILLS / ABILITIES
Excellent communication skills and to be able to maintain case files using an electronic social care record system to a high standard.
Ability to support and develop resilience and confidence for young people/ adults.
Able to travel to meet the requirements of the post and able and willing to work flexible hours.
Must have a driving licence and a car for use at work
Ability to demonstrate effectively the role of a Corporate Parent.
Skilful at building, maintaining relationships with key partners alongside young people / adults
OTHER
Willingness to take responsibility for ensuring personal continuous professional development and
to undertake training
Willingness to work outside of normal office working hours.
Willingness to hold events and groups
Willingness if required to travel out of Borough and possible at times overnight stays in hotel
Ability to understand and demonstrate a commitment to equality and diversity.
Must be legally entitled to work in the UK.
PAYE – £18- £20
Umb – £22.47 – £24.97
