Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for efficiently managing the Finance Team’s day-to-day activities. To achieve full financial control management and regulatory compliance. To be a hands on Financial Controller, to provide accurate, timely, financial information and analysis. To maintain and develop a strong governance culture and internal controls, within a limited systems environment. To support the implementation and development of all IT systems.

What you’ll be doing

Financial and Accounting – Prepare draft statutory accounts, HRMC statutory returns and VAT return, Government Statistics, Industry analysis and returns. Co-ordinate/manage the year end audit and prepare detailed, accurate audit and tax analysis.

Treasury Management/Credit Control Management – Manage the credit control team to ensure compliance with the credit control policy, assess and improve cash collections, and reduce delayed payers and bad debts. Monitor and report cash balances, analyse receipts, and produce short-term cash predictions. Review and manage future payment forecasts. Manage day-to-day bank relationships, such as Lloyds, PTX, cash collections, card charges, and system management. Ensure that cash is properly stored, processed, and remitted to the bank.

Management Reporting – Prepare accurate, full, and timely monthly management reports, as well as provide account analysis and financial understanding. This includes reconciling purchases and production numbers, compiling monthly sales and stock volume reports, and reconciling weekly depot reports. To monitor and control all balance sheet account reconciliations, including the monthly bank reconciliation.

Forecasting and Budgeting – To help coordinate and assist in the production and consolidation of the yearly budgets and forecasts.

HR, L&D and Recruitment – Management, recruitment, training, and development of Finance related employees.

Payroll/Pensions – Support and enhance the payroll team, ensuring efficient operations, compliance with regulations, and cost-effective services for company pension and P11d reporting.

Other duties as assigned by Senior Management

Must haves

  • Certified member of an accounting body (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • 4 years of post-qualification experience in a high-volume, transaction-based manufacturing setting, including a minimum of 2 years as a Financial Controller overseeing cross-disciplinary teams
  • Proficient in advanced Excel and Business Intelligence reporting tools (Power Pivots, etc.)
  • Demonstrates a hands-on, can-do attitude
  • Effective communicator with high literacy, numeracy, and professionalism
  • Diligent, practical, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented and adept at instilling attention to detail in others
  • Focuses on team development, encourages innovation, and promotes a can-do attitude.
  • Familiarity within the food and drink industry, manufacturing, and/or distribution in a family-run company is advantageous
