Underwriter – Europe & Africa
We are looking for an experience Underwriter to develop and maintain relationships with Members and Brokers to ensure the retention and development of the portfolio for the mutual benefit of the business.
Knowledge:
Thorough comprehension of the Club’s Strategy, Vision, goals, objectives, structure, and financial standing.
Proficient understanding of the Rules of the Association, Plain Language Policies, and additional coverage provisions, including a grasp of their organizational frameworks
In-depth familiarity with all aspects involved in risk assessment.
Technical proficiency across standard and additional P&I, LCC, PA & MKT covers, with the capability to apply this expertise to underwrite all risks within designated areas
Analytical skills to assess contracts, confidently evaluating indemnities and insurance requirements, determining poolability, and assessing the need for contractual R/I
Application of appropriate rating ranges for different risks
Identification of tonnage types suitable for mutual benefit within the underwriting scope. • Sound working knowledge of the IGA and pooling agreement
Detailed understanding of the Club’s systems and processes, including the Underwriting Procedure Manual, ensuring efficient and compliant service delivery
Skills:
Clear and consistent articulation of contractual issues and associated cover points regarding the need for additional coverage to Members and Brokers
Negotiation skills aimed at achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
Building and nurturing Member and broker relationships, with market knowledge cultivation in designated areas through regular visits and continuous communication.
Confident marketing of the Club in new business opportunities
Proficient usage of the Clubs AMP/CRM systems
Underwriting business with pride, ensuring it remains for the mutual benefit of the Membership
