MATERNITY COVER/ HOMEBASED/ HYBRID/ FLEXIBLE WORKING
We are supporting our fantastic FMCG client to find a strong category management professional with strong grocery retail experience (preferably Tesco/ Dunnhumby) to cover a period of maternity, starting around the end of March 2024.
As Category Manager, you will be fundamental in influencing your customer with category insights, primarily through driving engagement with the Category strategy, enabling excellent execution of our brand plans and initiatives.
You will use continuous data sources to guide and support the commercial team through influencing and developing relationships with retailers to understand their shoppers, in order to guide on the right range, distribution, space and promotions being activated.
As Category Manager you will:
- Develop a deep understanding of your customer and their strategy, the shoppers’ behaviours and attitudes towards the Category you manage.
- Provide guidance on strategic direction of the category, plus retailer needs and opportunities to commercial partners
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to utilise category and customer understanding to design and deliver category/brand solutions ensuring shopper and retailer needs are met
- Plan and co-ordinate the roll-out of account specific range reviews with customer-tailored plans to drive visibility, in-store availability and sales
- Secure, analyse and apply market and customer data to deliver the best insights to drive growth for both the business and the customer
- Build a thorough knowledge of the shopper and how they interact with the categories, their triggers and barriers, advising externally & internally the challenges & opportunities for the category.
- For each of the core categories, achieve consistent delivery of the Category Strategy, covering key category insights, growth opportunities and optimal range, space, location, layout, communication and promotion recommendations
- Track and monitor the performance of products within the categories they operate, be proactive in communicating concerns and potential solutions, and link to the Strategy
- Ensure high quality, fact-based selling stories are developed and briefed to the trading teams for all branded initiatives.
- Drive the Category agenda & create good working practices with data providers, to ensure their alignment to Category objectives and appropriate data management.
This role is set to be a 12 month FTC, so could appeal to immediately available candidates, candidates coming to the end of your current contract and looking to set straight into a new one in March, or to someone who is in a permanent role, but who’d consider leaving a permanent role for a great opportunity to develop/ accelerate their career of 12 months with this great organisation.
