The John Whitgift Foundation is one of the largest employers in the London Borough of Croydon, with over 1,000 staff working across our schools, care homes, Carers’ Information Service and head office. We are a charity that has been supporting the local community for over 425 years

You will be part of a small team of HR Professionals, and provide a generalist HR advice and support service to managers and staff across the Foundation. You will lead on the management of occupational health and absence management cases, and the ensure the correct application of family friendly policies and procedures.

Full time role 37 hours/week. Flexible/Hybrid working will be available – Fixed Term Contract – July 2024

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum depending on experience.

What you will do:

  • Pro-actively monitor short-term and long-term absence within the Foundation
  • Manage family friendly procedures including maternity, paternity and shared parental leave,
  • Lead on the management of Occupational Health cases across the Foundation.
  • Provide generalist advice, guidance and support to managers and staff throughout the Foundation,
  • Act as HR support and notetaker at disciplinary hearings as directed.
  • Support the HR Business Partners and Director of HR with the management of complex employee relations cases.
  • Undertake any ad hoc HR projects as directed by the HR Business Partners or Director of HR.
  • Ensure all of the HR systems including Civica, Staff Zone, Networx and Foundation Connect are kept up to date and reviewed regularly.
  • Support the HR Administrators as required
  • Support the HR Business Partners in updating HR policies and procedures.

About you:

Essential

  • CIPD level 5 or equivalent
  • Experience of managing own workload
  • Experience of dealing with a range of people
  • Experience in HR advisory role
  • Knowledge of current employment legislation and implications for HR practices
  • Excellent standard of written and verbal communication
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of staff
  • Ability to work to agreed deadlines
  • Computer literate and proficient user of word and excel
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Thrives on variety in a job role
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable

  • Educated to Degree level
  • Experience of Civica
  • Experience of working in the independent education or care sector
  • Knowledge of KCSIE/ISI and CQC regulatory requirements
