Your new role

As a Finance Officer in the care sector, you will be responsible for the efficient and secure administration of the finances on a day-to-day basis, reporting to the CEO. Previous experience of charity finance would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Your duties will include:

  • Orders – dealing with queries, raising orders and researching suppliers.
  • Budgeting – creating and managing budgets for the organisation and ensuring that the organisation’s finances are allocated appropriately and that the budget is adhered to.
  • Reporting – preparing financial reports for the organisation and ensuring that the reports are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable – managing the organisation’s accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that all invoices are paid on time and payments are received on time; organising payment runs, credit notes, reconciliation, checking statements, all banking and petty cash.
  • Payroll/Pensions – oversee processing of the monthly payroll function.
  • Analysis – analysing the organisation’s financial data, to identify trends and patterns in the data and provide recommendations to the management team.
  • Compliance – ensuring the organisation remains compliant with all financial regulations and laws.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in finance or accounting is preferred, or AAT/NVQ qualified.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of SAGE, although training can be provided.
  • Analytical, numerical & problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good time management.
