Are you a Psychotherapist with recognised therapeutic training looking for a challenging and exciting new opportunity to help and support in the progress of the lives of our service users within an inpatient setting? 

If so, join our dedicated, experienced, and supportive team at Arbury Court Hospital in Warrington where you will work 37.5 hours a week, providing therapy to service users under mental health and forensic section within secure and acute services. You will be joining a regional network of experienced psychology and psychotherapy staff. Including qualified and staff in training. You will have access to multiple CPD and learning opportunities.

As a Psychotherapist, you will need to be confident in the application of your core therapeutic training but also highly adaptable, able to tailor your intervention to the needs of individuals in crisis or suffering from a significant mental health illness. You will need to be patient, sensitive and determined to engage them in therapy.

Your responsibilities:

  • To work autonomously to provide a specialist psychology / psychotherapy service to patients as agreed, alongside professional colleagues
  • To undertake specialist assessments
  • Coordinate reports for submission to various external and internal bodies
  • To provide specialist interventions according to formulations based on an appropriate conceptual framework, best practice guidelines, evidence from research, and in accordance with the wider Multi-disciplinary formulation and interventions.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, case conferences, and to provide reports for these in accordance with local procedures.
  • To continually monitor risk of all patients for whom there is direct contact, or regarding which the post holder receives relevant information, ensure acute risk is managed, liaise with MDT (and in particular responsible psychiatrist) regarding risk, and update electronic record including risk assessment as required
  • Facilitate ‘reflective practice’ sessions for staff
  • To supervise staff in training
  • To deliver training in accordance with the needs of the service

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • An appropriate therapy qualification (with, where necessary, core clinical training).
  • Registration with an appropriate professional body
  • Verbal and written communication skills
