Senior Payroll Officer – Harpenden Job Description
This role will be responsible for all aspects of payroll. Overseeing the weekly and motnhly payroll submitted by the Payroll Administrator and working closely with other members of the business to ensure reports are provided and maintained. The individual will work closely with the HR team, providing advice on payroll and providing monthly reports.

Main responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly and weekly payroll process
  • Crosscheck payroll data in the HR system, resolve inconsistencies with the HR team.
  • Prepare all ad-hoc payroll and employee-related analyses for senior management accounts and budgets as and when required.
  • Reporting – create monthly review process and exception analyst reporting, bulk upload service line data into the HR system and upload to PowerBi payroll model, holiday pay provision, headcount splits.
  • Provide advice about taxes and employment laws on salary.
  • Prepare detailed payroll budgets and forecasts.
  • Work with the Data Analyst to update the PowerBi models and prepare payroll reporting on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare tax schedules for tax computations.
  • Responsible for all employment tax matters.
  • Accountable for all partnership members’ payroll.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes to payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, including People, Finance and Operations to ensure that all payroll-related processes are aligned and effective.

About you

  • Strong end-to-end payroll processing knowledge
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good understanding of HMRC and legal requirements affecting UK payroll
  • Proficient in current UK payroll rules and regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with numerical data
  • AAT level three is required
