Senior Contracts Manager / Quantity Surveyor

A gas distribution company involved in a number of exciting projects

Description

  • Preparing tender documentation (including draft contracts, bills of quantities and Activity Schedules).
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to administer contracts in line with NEC and our Bespoke form of Contracts
  • Contract Administration – manage all post contract commercial matters including negotiating and agreeing compensation events to achieve best possible commercial outcome.
  • Enhancing supplier and stakeholder relationships and commercial advantage by preparing feasibility studies, optioneering, cost plans and cost estimate to assist in forecasting.
  • Change Management – Monitor and assist project managers to review project changes that impact on cost and programme and inform budget projections accordingly.
  • Liaise with interfacing stakeholders such as Legal, Operations and Finance.
  • Contribute to periodic reporting required by business unit directors.
  • Project cost management – production of cost reports
  • Consider contract risk profiles and advise mitigation actions.
  • Assist project managers in production of project risk register
  • Undertake peer reviews on Category Strategy Plans to ensure value and suitability for mains replacement activities.
  • Manage final account process including communication of clear commercial lessons learned to senior stakeholders

Profile

  • Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification including recognised professional body accreditation or working towards (RICS, CIPS, CICES, IOB or equivalent) is desired
  • Preferable at least 3 years unsupervised working on construction projects
  • Strong IT skills, including knowledge of all MS Office applications, and purchase to pay systems.
  • Demonstrable experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing construction contracts (ideally NEC).
  • Demonstrable experience of working to tight deadlines, under pressure whilst still delivering quality output and prioritising requirements.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and to influence and negotiate with users outside your own sphere of responsibility.
  • A willingness to travel across both our network regions to attend various sites which you will be responsible for the commercial aspects of.
