SHES Manager – Leeds
Welcome to TRUe:
The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) aims to deliver faster, longer, more frequent, and more reliable services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds.
The aim of the TRU Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North’s great cities. Providing passengers with more choice, more seats, and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.
The SHES Manager role is a diverse role and involves engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
What you will be doing
- Ensure that appropriate Alliancing behaviours and ‘best for project’ approaches are always followed, leading by example in the pursuit of successful delivery of the Programme to the benefit of all Alliance Members.
- Assessing the potential Health & Wellbeing impact of works and working environment on the project team through surveys/close calls and developing a programme to mitigate negative impacts and enhance benefits.
- Working with the wider TRU Programme Team to deliver a more inclusive strategy around Health & Wellbeing.
- Establish a clear set of deliverable Health & Wellbeing expectations and KPI’s.
- Work with the supply chain to drive Health & Wellbeing minimum standards.
- Work with the Communications Lead to ensure regular and robust communications around Health & Wellbeing initiatives, campaigns and events to continuously raise awareness
- Promote a positive approach to Health & Wellbeing at all levels through facilitating events, guest speakers and other initiatives, ensuring the working practices of the Alliance support these approaches.
- Arrange regular Mental Health First Aid training, promoting this across the Alliance at all levels and types of roles and supporting the first aider team within their voluntary roles.
- Develop and lead a Mental Health & Wellbeing working group as well as participate in other relevant programme steering groups, such as Social Value, Charitable/Social events and ED&I, and support wider programme outcomes.
- Collaborate with Alliance partner organisations so that best practice Health & Wellbeing initiatives are utilised and shared to the benefit of all team members.
- Work with the wider SHES Team around Occupational Health that is available through the Alliance partner organisations, promoting and seeking to develop these to the benefit of the Alliance.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required in line with capabilities, the needs of the project, and the wider TRU East programme.
Who we are looking for
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Ideally have working knowledge of both rail and construction interfaces and practices.
- Good academic qualifications or equivalent.
- NEBOSH Management of Health & Wellbeing (desirable)
- Good working knowledge of appropriate client and enforcing authority strategies on Health and Wellbeing
- Good understanding of the rail and construction industry would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication skillsand ability to form positive internal and external relationships
- Technical and professional expertise.
- Personal resilience and ability to thrive in a ambitious and fast-moving environment.
- Ability to lead and contribute to meetings with project teams and stakeholders.
