Engineering Lead

What are we looking for in you?
- You must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills as Engineering Leads must effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and foster collaboration across teams.
- You will work closely with the business leaders helping them deliver the level of change at speed.
- You should have a strong background in software development, with expertise in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and technologies. You should be able to demonstrate a track record of designing and building complex, scalable systems.
- Prior experience in a leadership role, such as a team lead, technical lead, or engineering manager, is essential. You should be able to showcase their ability to lead and inspire engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, is important. Familiarity with Agile is necessary.
- A strong understanding of the banking and financial services industry is highly valuable. Experience working on projects related to insurance products is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards relevant to the insurance sector, such as GDPR, PSD2, or industry-specific security requirements, is beneficial.
- You should have experience in designing and architecting software systems, considering factors like scalability, security, and performance. You would be expected to work with existing Enterprise and Solution architects to help define and deliver future roadmaps
- Experience mentoring and coaching engineering team members to help them grow professionally and improve their skills.
- A history of introducing innovative solutions or technologies that drive business value is a plus.
Overall, you should have a well-rounded background that combines technical expertise with leadership abilities, industry knowledge, and a commitment to delivering secure and innovative solutions in the insurance sector.
What you’ll need
Digital Technologies:
- Cloud Computing: Proficiency in cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Microservices Architecture: Experience with designing, building, and managing microservices-based applications.
- Containerization: Familiarity with containerization technologies
- Web and Mobile Development: Knowledge of web and mobile application development, including front-end and back-end technologies, responsive design, and mobile app development frameworks.
- APIs: Understanding of API design principles, RESTful APIs.
- Data Management: Experience with data storage and processing technologies, including databases (SQL and NoSQL), data warehousing, and data lakes.
- Test Automation: Experience with toolsets such as Selenium, Junit, BDD and Cucumber.
DevOps Technologies:
- Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI to automate software builds, testing, and deployments.
- Version Control: Strong understanding of version control systems like Git for code collaboration and version tracking.
- Collaboration and Communication: Experience with collaboration and communication tools like Slack, JIRA, and Confluence for team coordination and project management.
